The Championship Game

Okay, really, the last game of the boys basketball season. I know I already posted about their basketball games, but this was funny to me. Spencer does absolutely love basketball and a lot of his life revolves around it in some way. But, he is just a little young to care too much about playing on a team. Most of the time he is walking along the lines on the court or running away from whoever is guarding him. This time he "fell asleep" in the middle of the game. There is Spencer, lying on the floor under the basket, with all the kids playing around him. I knew what he was doing because he "falls asleep" and "snores" at home a lot at random times. He can do amazing things in his sleep! The poor ref couldn't figure out what to do with him. So, I got him to scoot over to the sidelines with me, where he continued his nap for a little bit. What a crack up! Koby took the game a little more seriuosly then Spencer and was determined to make a basket, which he did!

Funny Moments from my boys

Koby and his new shoes. They make him run fast!
These are Koby's "inventions" Some of them he does all by himself without me even knowing that he is doing it. Some he asks me to help him put a nail in after he puts it together and shows me where. Cute!
Spencer was glued to the tv watching Harry Connick Jr. and some Jazz band. He ran to the back and got his drum to joing along.

I opened the fridge and Clay made a dash for it. So, I let him dig around for a minute and when I came back, this is how I found him. YUM!

A Weekend to Forget

We started out with great intentions and excitement...I was meeting my sister Kim in Salt Lake for a few days to stay in a hotel, do some shopping, beading, just have fun. I brought Clay with me too. And my sister in law, Kelsey had a good friend from Albania getting married in Logan. So, it was us and my in laws, Gary and Jennis driving through Wyoming on Thursday. We got about 30 miles from Evanston (less than 2 hours from our destination) and about 1/4 mile from the big gate that closes the road...there we sat, and sat, and sat. It was 4:30pm when they closed the road, 12:30am when they let us off the freeway to go into town to the Baptist church for shelter. There were literally hundreds of cars for miles and miles and 7 people found the baptist church that night. We all slept (well, tried to sleep) in our cars that night. After being in the car for 25 hours straight, we finally got good directions to the baptist church and found shelter there. We walked in with a baby, so they were especially nice to us and gave us our own room (the nursery). We spent 4 or 5 hours there, where the LDS church brought in TONS of food for everyone. Finally the roads were open towards Salt Lake, so we headed on. By then, mine and Kim's plans were ruined, so I went to mom's. I spent a few hours Friday night, and all day Saturday, then left early Sunday morning. It was fun while I was there, but I never would have gotten in that car if I knew what was ahead of me.

Driving Conditions...(You can't see the wind really)
Stopped...(Jennis feels trapped)How many people can say they have made a snow angel ON I-80?
Well, Kelsey and Jennis can!
When ya gotta go...(and we did probably 3 or 4 times)
Jennis trying to get comfortable with my feet as a pillow...
Clay has no idea...
Clay and I trying to get some sleep...
The nursery at the shelter (Clay is asleep in that top bunk)...

When Mom's Away, the Kids Play - Colorado Version

Okay, to follow the post by John (via Kim's blog), here is our version of what happens when mom leaves for a few days. (by the way, this is Brandon writing this post). Cami went to Utah to spend a girls weekend away with her sister Kimberly. While that is an experience in and of itself, here is what happened after Cami left town.

Immediately after Cami was gone, the boys took over and we haven't looked back. While we are trying to keep things in order, it is apparent that there is very little order anywhere around here.

Before I get to the pictures, I have to first say to John - you had magnetics all over the floor, is that as bad as you had it? Please. Did that take you about 5 minutes to clean up? (LOL) That's nothing. I was in the kitchen trying to clean up breakfast when Koby walked in and proudly announced that he messed up all three bedrooms, simply because mom was gone and he could. No other reason then that. Anyways, check these out.

Notice in all these first pictures, they are in their undies. Nothing new about that though, that is how they are whether Cami is gone or not.

This is AFTER we had to clean up every one of their drawers because they pulled their clothes out and threw them all over the place. It is also after Koby cleaned up all the people and put them back in their box.

This is Clay's room.

Here is Spencer cleaning up Clay's room. By the way - nice slippers Spencer (they are a new pair that Cami just got).

This is day two of the weekend. We slept out in the front room last night (a tradition that the boys do about twice a month). We pull the matresses off the beds and make popcorn and watch a movie.

It is fun when mom leaves, but nice to have her around. Spencer and Koby both have told me more than once that they miss Clay and Mom and are excited to have them back.

We caved...

and bought a minivan. I am not sure if I feel "in" or "out" now! I told Brandon that I don't know if I am ready to be defined by a van. But, we are actually excited about it after cramming three huge car seats in the back of our 4Runner. The boys think it is awesome, I think they just like to be far from mom! Koby got in when we looked at it, sat in the back, said "Feel's good, let's get it," and got right back out. So, I've joined all the other Mormon moms out there - Feels good!

I've embraced it - thanks to you!

So, my haircut is growing on me. It is always easier when I hear so many nice things about it - even if they were begged for! Sorry to disappoint some of you, but I did not cut my hair myself. I guess I misled you, but I did color it myself (with Brandon's help). Thanks again for all your nice comments. Check back in the next day to see the other change in my life this week.

Fishing for Compliments

So, I chopped my hair and I am really not feeling great about it. I was hoping it would be about three inches longer than it is, which makes a huge difference because I can't wear it curly or put it in a ponytail. It means it is just to my chin rather than below (and super short when it is tucked) and that really makes me self concious. I do like the cut, just not so much myself in it. Help me boost my self esteem right now!
